This is personal for us... We have grown our family through foster care and adoption. I still remember sitting in foster parent training when someone asked, "how do we fix the system?" and the trainer replied "with one family... and one child at a time." She went onto say... "it starts with you!" The need is too great for one person to take on alone... but together as a community with passion and hard work we can make a difference! We grew our family to four kiddos in under three years through foster adoption. Parenting has taught me empathy, love, grit, humility, silliness, advocacy, and tenacity in ways I never could have imagined! Our kiddos are the absolute best!
I love to host our "It's good to be alive!" dinner...
So, this may sound wild but a few years ago I was in a really bad horse accident. I broke my neck, most of my face and jaw in two places. I was wired shut for weeks. On the anniversary of my accident and each year since we have hosted a family dinner and we call it our "it's good to be alive" party. I am so thankful to walk, and to talk, and to be able to chew my own food that we mark it with a celebration. Parts of this course and project came from a lot of writing I did while I was recovering from my accident. Photography is my first love when it comes to "work"... but I have fallen in love with coaching and equipping social workers to reach their communities!
The silly stuff...
We absolutely love exploring as a family. It seems to be the place that are at our best... outside adventuring. I was on the Price is Right... twice. Once in college and won a bunch of stuff and then again just a few years ago with our oldest two kiddos for a mother's day special and we made it up to make a bid. My favorite movie is the Princess Bride and my hidden talent is that I can say my abc's backwards... Send our team an email... we would love to know more about you!
